To Join Or Not To Join

In today’s digital age where living without the internet is possibly a life not worth living, opening the door to online dating is really an emergence in a change in human behaviour to embrace social and digital technology, to meet new people. That sounded super smart (*brushes shoulders*).

The concept of joining a dating website can seem a little daunting, desperate and demeaning. Personally, I find it fun and amusing at times. Don’t get me wrong, like any girl I hope to meet my prince but in the process meet a few friendly / weird frogs too. I could write another blog post on the weird, outrageous and somewhat inhumane creatures I have met or been messaged by, so shall leave that for another day.

When I first joined a dating website it resulted in the following: 630 interests in first 3 weeks and over 4,000 profile views! Let me add to the stats – 300 interests were in 48hours! Yes – I am boasting, but even Cheryl Cole or Kim Kardashian wouldn’t get that! I did feel like a celebrity checking through my fan mail at times, but it was a tough job and someone had to do it!

Joking aside, here is my theory to help you decide if online dating is right for you.

Why am I single?

So you are twenty something, have a fantastic career, a great bunch of friends, a personality that is second to none and look hot as hell (most of the time – well so you think!). Everything in life seems perfect yet you know you are approaching an age where children and marriage are no longer in the distant future!

So we have all been on a date and it doesn’t let say go as well as we had expected. From looking nothing like their photo, to being 5 inches shorter than what they had described. So I have a stalker...or is it a hacker?

So as you know I have been tweeting about the fact I have a stalker... And I am not over dramatising this! I am currently playing detective with the help of a friend to catch him...(making my life into a movie!).

So how did it start?! A guy, hacked into my friend Jinal's Facebook and acted as her to get my number. I then realised it wasn't her but it was too late... He now had my number. The guy who disclosed his name as Jason/Jay to me acted as if he knew me and wanted to 'get to know me'. A few harassing calls and texts followed during the week.

Now here is where this sh*t becomes a digital next level cyber hacking scandal!

What NOT to message on dating sites

So as you know I am on dating sites and it's really not a big deal.

It's a good way to meet some normal decent guys, however, you do get the occasional weirdo with the type of messages that make you say wtf!
