I hate family introductions!

If you’re getting Asian matrimonial pressures then you will be familiar with the family introduction concept. I’ve had one in my life and planned never to experience that again until I reach a desperate age. However, at a recent family event, I was unknowingly shown a guy as an introduction! I was slightly annoyed – not because I didn’t know about it upfront, but because I realise with introductions comes the whole addition of unnecessary family involvement and judgments of whether you would be a good match based on ego, materialistic qualities and status. Traditional family introductions I guess were the norm for our parents and a changing role today is a self introduction through online dating. We still make an initial judgement on age, height, career and their mug shot to see how ‘handsome’ he is – all the basics you would also find out through a traditional family introduction. However, I wanted to share some of my frustrations in this post of examples of why I hate family introductions. I apologise if this post is a massive rant – feel free to stop reading!

If you’re still with me, then here are some of the factors of why I passionately hate this Asian tradition:

Why are girls so stupid?

So, any girl reading the title of this probably feels slightly offended right now, but read on and you will soon come to realise that this is in fact true (especially if you’re single). To be fair, it’s not really our fault as God has created the male species such that we will perhaps never fully understand them (and with that thought, I believe the feelings are mutual). In any case, part of life is to meet the right person, get married and start a family (you know the drill) but most of all don’t forget to have fun in the process, where dating usually plays its role.

Does it ever feel like it’s actually not fun, hard work or stressful? Yes, we have all been there. Dating can sometimes feel like a chore especially when you meet one loser after another. To be honest, the loser in fact is you. You’re making the wrong choices and falling for the traps you should be reading early on.

First Date

The perfect first date is hard to come by, especially when you have high expectations! Let’s face it, a first date can be pretty awkward, especially if you have never spoken before or worse yet, are doing it blind! That moment when you first see them, if my heart doesn't skip a beat or if I can’t feel my blood pressure rise, I just know he isn't ‘the one’. So what else really makes or breaks a first date? Here are 10 key factors I look out for on a first date:

She’s Just Not That Into You!

Do you often find yourself left with no reply to your messages, no answer to your calls and feel slightly rejected? Well yes you should! Do you know why? She’s just not that into you!

Why is this so? Well from experience, you could come across as one of the following:

1) You’re boring
You talk about the obvious things in life that is just small talk and not necessarily helping to show you have a personality I can click with.

2) You’re desperate and eager
If you message your life story in a single message, or wave or message repeatedly with no response from me the first, second or thirty-third time, then don’t you think you’re a little weird?

3) You’re not attractive (in my eyes)
It’s never nice to tell someone they are ugly but if there is no attraction in the slightest, then it may be a reason for my silence.

Top Tips for your Dating Profile

In the spirit of the January sales, your dating profile is basically the shop window where you showcase yourself as ‘datable’. However most of you, let me emphasise the most being, nine out of ten of you are definitely the equivalent to the 99p store or cheap Sunday market stall with ‘Dagenham Dave’ type of goods on show! Do you get the picture? So what can you do to make yourself the top dog, the Louis Vuitton, highly desired singleton that girls just cannot wait to get their hands on?
Well boys, today is your lucky day. I am giving away one of my biggest secrets by telling you how a dating profile catches my eye. If there are any ladies reading this, please feel free to share your tips for what you are looking for in the comments below. After all, you could potentially be helping your Mr Right catch your eye!

Here are my three top tips for your dating profile:

To Join Or Not To Join

In today’s digital age where living without the internet is possibly a life not worth living, opening the door to online dating is really an emergence in a change in human behaviour to embrace social and digital technology, to meet new people. That sounded super smart (*brushes shoulders*).

The concept of joining a dating website can seem a little daunting, desperate and demeaning. Personally, I find it fun and amusing at times. Don’t get me wrong, like any girl I hope to meet my prince but in the process meet a few friendly / weird frogs too. I could write another blog post on the weird, outrageous and somewhat inhumane creatures I have met or been messaged by, so shall leave that for another day.

When I first joined a dating website it resulted in the following: 630 interests in first 3 weeks and over 4,000 profile views! Let me add to the stats – 300 interests were in 48hours! Yes – I am boasting, but even Cheryl Cole or Kim Kardashian wouldn’t get that! I did feel like a celebrity checking through my fan mail at times, but it was a tough job and someone had to do it!
Joking aside, here is my theory to help you decide if online dating is right for you.

Why am I single?

So you are twenty something, have a fantastic career, a great bunch of friends, a personality that is second to none and look hot as hell (most of the time – well so you think!). Everything in life seems perfect yet you know you are approaching an age where children and marriage are no longer in the distant future!

You ask yourself time and time again why it is so difficult to meet Mr/Miss Right? This post should hopefully answer and conclude why this is the case. Let’s take a look at some of the answers to your single status.

What NOT to message on dating sites

So as you know I am on dating sites and it's really not a big deal.

It's a good way to meet some normal decent guys, however, you do get the occasional weirdo with the type of messages that make you say wtf!

I wish I kept the weirder ones! But here is a selection of a few that I definitely did NOT reply to!

Dating Site Guy Numero Uno

Last year I decided to join a dating website - which believe it or not was not my idea! I got pushed into doing it, I swear! (Gun to my head and all sorts!). Anyways, totally enjoyed the interest I received … 630 interests in first 3 weeks and over 4,000 profile views! Let me add to the stats – 300 interests were in 48hours! Yes! I am boasting… but even Cheryl Cole or Kim Kardashian probably wouldn’t get that!

So I did my usual searching through 1,000 minging profiles and came a cross a nice looking guy, to whom I expressed an interest. About a week later, he accepted. However, I’m a cheapskate Indian and did not wish to fork out £51 for 3 months just so I can contact the guy, so tried to find him on facebook! If there ever was an award for Facebook stalker of the century, hands in the air, I would win that! I didn’t even know the guys name based on his profile but guessed what it might be from his nick named user ID and searched through about a few hundred and stumbled across his profile on facebook!
